Generate Business Thanks to a Well-Thought-outContact Form
Generating leads is the challenge for all professionals today. But what exactly is a lead? Quite simply a qualified business contact, a person likely to become a customer, an opportunity to generate business. But how do you attract leads? This is where the contact form comes in. Last name, first name, email address: it allows you to collect a lot of information about your target to better meet their needs. But integrating this type of form on its site is getting ready. Here is how to do it.
What Information to Put on a Contact Form?
To be effective, a contact form must be built according to very specific rules. The goal? That your potential customers engage with your business by asking to be called back, or to receive more information about your product or service offering. So, how do you properly build your contact form?
Integrate your contact form on a dedicated page of your website. This is a page click intake form that should allow any Internet user to navigate easily, without wasting time searching your site for the elements they need. It must be attractive: do not hesitate to place it in your menu (for example, you can name it “Contact”, or “Contact us”).
Finally, your contact page must be visual, and clearly highlight your company details and the contact form. In short, it has to make you want to go further!
You don’t have a website? You can use a landing page in which you integrate your contact form. This page can be used for many communication actions (online advertising for example) in order to collect the contact details of your future customers.
Write a short introductory text. It should remind you why we should contact you: receive a quote, be called back and even download an eBook.
Integrate a CTA. This is the area of the page that will inspire your lead to take action. For example, it could be an “I want to be contacted” button that appears after they have completed the contact form.
Don’t forget the “Thank you page”. After filling out and validating the form, what will your potential customer come across? Now is a good time to thank him with a “Thank you page”, which is a page that displays when the form is submitted. If you have a blog, you can also suggest content for it to read. A good way to keep it on your site!
What information to ask your prospects on a contact form?
Some information is extremely valuable and useful to complete the profile of your potential customers. Others, on the contrary, weigh down the page and lengthen the time it takes for your lead to complete the contact form. Asking him too much information is also taking the risk of leaving!
Here are the fields that we recommend that you include in your form. At a minimum, you can ask:
- Last name First Name;
- E-mail;
- Phone.
And then expand to the following information:
- Address;
- Company name (if you are targeting professionals);
- His message / project / need;
- The theme of his request or the offer that interests him;
- And always, at the end of the form, the call to action button!
Obviously, the fields you will ask to fill will be different depending on your objective and the information you need.
Some tools to easily create a contact form
Because we are not all IT development pros and creating a contact form in PHP or HTML is far from within everyone’s reach, we have prepared a few tips to make your job easier:
Integrate a contact form plugin into your WordPress site. It is a module that will be grafted to your site to easily add contact forms to your pages. There are several, such as Contact form 7, Ninja Forms, WP-forms.
opt for a “Do it yourself” solution. To create your site, you can go through an online site editor, like Wix for example. All of them make it very easy to integrate contact forms into your pages.
All you have to do is put your contact form online! Well, almost … Just before, think about testing it!
Beware of GDPR Regulations
Since 2018, the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) requires taking into account new requirements in terms of collection and protection of personal data. And this is exactly what we do when we set up a contact form, so be careful to stay legal!
Remember to integrate opt-ins and opt-outs in your form (or just below). An opt-in is a checkbox to ask the recipient for their consent to collect their data for advertising or prospecting purposes. If he does not check “yes” he is considered not to have given his consent. The opt-out is the reverse: the user must check a box to NOT receive information from you.
Okay, all of these tools and tips, that’s fine. But to be sure that your contact form generates leads, brings you plenty of customers and, in addition, complies with GDPR regulations, it is still best to entrust its creation to a professional. Want to try? If you need, you know where to find us 😉
