Everything to Consider When Updating Your Lighting Design

Sometimes you need to just give yourself five days to re-fashion your home into a whole new space! And with more time at home thanks to quarantine, that’s entirely possible.

But whether it’s five days or five weeks, make sure you don’t forget to include lighting design in your extreme home makeover plans. If you’re considering some home updates, lights can really brighten up a room (pun intended).

However, lights are a lot more than their obvious function. Where and how they’re placed, the type of lights you choose, and what they compliment can make a huge difference in the rooms in your home.

Let’s dive into some tips to making your lights shine!

Headspace

Consider the way that your lights are installed in your ceiling. The way they light your space will change with the way that they’re oriented in or on your ceiling.

Additionally, it helps to think about the types of adjustable settings you get with your lights.

Do you want your living room lights to just switch on and off? Or do you want to be able to control the way they light up with fades?

You can also install switches that control the intensity of your lights and their warmth in color!

Chandeliers

Statement pieces can make or break a room, and lighting is one way to accomplish a statement. This is because of chandeliers.

They can be sleek and simple, or elegant and intricate. It’s all about what you want to emphasize in your room and how much light you want coming from the chandelier.

In fact, you can even upgrade your ceiling fan by finding some that come with built-in lights so that you can stay cool and lit. All you have to do is find the best size and shape for you.

Reflection

Finally, your lighting only shines as much as it can reflect off of. Mirrors can be a great compliment to whatever room you’re redesigning with lights.

Mirrors can help bounce the light around evenly, and it can even create the impression of a room that’s bigger in size than it actually is! Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you should rush to Bed, Bath, & Beyond and buy all the mirrors you can carry.

Make sure you’re planning in an organized manner with the ways that you arrange your mirrors. If you’re feeling especially museum-y, you can find a lot of differently shaped mirrors and put them all on one wall, which makes for a fun statement piece of its own!

Revamp Your Lighting Design
