The startup came with the idea of disappearing package. It was one of the most amazing eco-friendly packaging ideas ever thought. Such type of package is ideal for food products. It is made out of flexible materials like natural extracts from corn, seaweed, and sugar, etc. These materials automatically degrade in a natural environment within a few weeks and are edible. You need not to worry about recycling conditions or throwing them in a garbage bin. This London-based startup, Skipping Rocks Lab made its name in developing natural and biodegradable packaging material made from plants. It can tackle plastic pollution in a good way. Ooho is one of their natural packaging products for liquids. It biodegrades within 4-6 weeks and can be eaten.

7)     Evoware:

Seaweed-based packaging is a good eco packaging alternative to conventional one. The production of algae neither requires any fertilizer not any chemical. They absorb carbon dioxide during their growth. Evoware is an Indonesian startup which developed a biodegradable and edible packaging made from seaweed. It can be used for food and non-food products.

8)     Do Eat:

Do Eat is a company of Belgium which developed a packaging made from potato waste. The packaging is developed completely from the potato industry’s residues like wash water and potato peel. This potato-based bio-plastic is highly biodegradable. It increases the preservation of food as compared to traditional plastic. These containers are edible and compostable as they are made from potato and beer waste.

9)     Candy Cutlery:

Environmentally friendly packaging companies are developing edible utensils made with 100% natural sugar in an effort to reduce plastic waste. Canadian Candy Cutlery makes dessert spoons and small glasses made of 100% natural cane sugar. The products are free of artificial sweeteners and can be used either as ice cream dishes or shot glasses. Candy Cutlery’s spoons are available in coffee, vanilla, strawberry, and peppermint flavors. The packaging is 100% recyclable.

10)Lactips:

Casein is a protein. It is found in milk and can be used to make edible product wrapping similar to a plastic wrap. The casein film when combined with an alkali compound protects the food from oxygen 500 times more than a petroleum-based wrapping. It is highly resistant to temperature, humidity, and moisture. This French-based startup Lactips produced water-soluble thermoplastic pellets created from milk proteins. The varieties of this product are used in various industries, starting from food to eco-friendly packaging cosmetics, medicines, detergents and agrochemicals, etc.
