We blow-dry it, experiment with different Hairstyles, add length and volume with Remy Hair Extensions, and, of course, Colour it to disguise the different-Colour roots or try out a new Hair Colour trend. In either case, could we be causing more harm than good to our prized possession? Is this a frequent misunderstanding? Read On to find out.

What Happens When You Color Your Hair?

It depends on whether you use permanent, semi-permanent, or demi-permanent hair colour.

  1. Permanent Hair Dye : First. Ammonia causes the cuticle to open up like a flower, allowing the colour to pass through. The old colour of the hair (called melanin) is then removed with peroxide, allowing the new colour to take its place. It does this by penetrating the cortex. Finally, we condition the hair to close the cuticle and seal it in the new colour. When we lighten or bleach our hair, the same procedure is employed, however, the melanin is either removed or eaten away until the desired shade is achieved. The natural colour of the hair cannot be reproduced in this scenario. All we have to do now is wait for it to regrow.
  1. Semi-Permanent Hair Dye : It is a much gentler technique than permanent colored hair because it contains neither peroxide nor ammonia. It lasts up to 6 weeks and only adds little cooler molecules to the hair, so it doesn’t drastically change the colour. The colour fades after numerous shampoos and eventually exits the cuticle.
  1. Demi-Permanent Hair Dye : This one can last up to 12 weeks and does not emit ammonia. It does, however, contain peroxide. Because it forms larger molecules in the cortex, it lasts longer than semi-permanent hair colour.

If we had to pick one, we’d go for semi-permanent hair dyes because they cause the least damage to the hair. When we use permanent hair dyes, the hair strand will not be able to restore to its prior condition on its own, even if we apply a conditioner to assist seal the cuticle after we dye our hair. Furthermore, overuse of permanent hair colorings’ might result in dry and damaged hair. In this situation, we’ll need to help with hair masks, treatments, and products made specifically for coloured hair that will replenish the strands’ nutrients and hydration.

What’s our advice? Have your hair dyed by a professional because numerous variables might influence the outcome of your hair colour (i.e. hair type, current shade, and condition). And, if you want to save time while still ensuring that your hair is always looking and feeling healthy, we recommend Indian virgin hair extensions from quality weave store, which you may cut, shape, deep-dye, and colour whenever you like.
